كَأَنَّهاas though she were حينَwhen فاضَoverflowed الماءُthe water وَاِحتَفَلَتand she gathered speed
كَأَنَّها حينَ فاضَ الماءُ وَاِحتَفَلَت
صَقعاءُa white-headed ostrich لاحَappeared لَهاto her بِالسَرحَةِby the spreading tree الذيبُthe wolf
صَقعاءُ لاحَ لَها بِالسَرحَةِ الذيبُ
As though, when the water overflowed and she gathered speed,
As it swept in a flood, and wildly whirled,
she were a white-headed ostrich to which the wolf appeared by the spreading tree.
Earth seemed a rolling drum, from hill to hill impelled.
