فَرُمتُ بِذَلِكَ أَمراً كَبيرا
I grazed in the protected pasture of the feared king.
I grazed the king's inviolable preserve
By doing so, I sought something momentous.
And risked thereby a matter fraught with danger
فَأَسمَنَso he fattened مِنّاamong us الفَتىthe young man مُهرَهُhis colt
فَأَسمَنَ مِنّا الفَتى مُهرَهُ
وَأَبطَنَand filled the belly of ذوthe possessor of المالِwealth مِنّاamong us البَعيراthe camel
وَأَبطَنَ ذو المالِ مِنّا البَعيرا
So the young man among us fattened his colt.
So the boy grew fat from that which was our due
And the wealthy man among us filled the camel's belly.
And the rich filled his camel's belly fuller

فَوَلَّوا غَداةَ التَقَينا الظُهورا
So he dispatched Himyar in pursuit of me.
Then he sent men to hunt me down
Then, on the morning we met, they turned their backs.
But they all turned and fled when our steeds met
