وَإِنّيand indeed I لَآتيsurely I come to الأَرضَthe land ماليI have no حاجَةٌneed
وَإِنّي لَآتي الأَرضَ مالي حاجَةٌ
سِواكِother than you وَلاand no دَينٌdebt بِهاin it أَناI طالِبُهseeking it
سِواكِ وَلا دَينٌ بِها أَنا طالِبُه
And indeed I come to the land with no need
I come to this world though I have no need
other than you, and no debt there that I seek.
Of anything here but you—no creed
فَإِتيانُهاso visiting it ظُلمٌinjustice وَهِجرانُهاand forsaking it جَوىًheartache
فَإِتيانُها ظُلمٌ وَهِجرانُها جَوىً
بَرىwore away أَعظُمىmy bones أَنbecause لاnot تُغِبَّlet up نَوائِبُهits afflictions
بَرى أَعظُمى أَن لا تُغِبَّ نَوائِبُه
So visiting it is injustice, and forsaking it is heartache,
To seek. So staying would be cruel,
which has worn away my bones, for its afflictions never let up.
But leaving breaks my heart, poor fool.
