She asks me why I sighed—alas for her—
You ask me what I have breathed of air fragrant with meadow flowers,
Suʿād; and I know well what you ask about.
And, Saad, concerning what you ask, I am well informed.

وَأَينَ لَنا مِن آلِ مُرَّةَ ناصِرُ
Find out, my friend, where our homes have gone,
My friend realized where our homes have gone,
And where among Murrah’s clan there is a helper for us.
And where, for us, among the family of Murrah, is a helper.
فَقَدfor indeed يُجبَرُis mended العَظمُthe bone الكَسِيرُbroken فَيَستَويand so grows straight

For a broken bone may be mended and grow straight,
So the broken bone may be bound to heal and be made straight,
And after a man is gone, O Saʿd, an avenger is born.
And after a man dies, O Saad, an avenger may be born.
