كما ضُرِبَ الْيَعْسُوب أَنْ عافَ باقِرٌ

كما ضُرِبَ الْيَعْسُوب أَنْ عافَ باقِرٌ

وما ذَنْبُهُ أن عافَتِ الماءَ باقرُ

وما ذَنْبُهُ أن عافَتِ الماءَ باقرُ

Just as the lead bull was beaten because a herd balked,

Like a hyena being beaten yet still determined,

And what fault was his that the herd refused the water?

He is not at fault that the well water tastes bitter.
