أَيُّهاO you الساعيthe pursuer عَلىupon آثارِناour tracks
نَحنُwe مَنthose whom لَستَyou are not بِسَعّاءٍa tireless striver مَعَهwith him
O you who follow in our tracks,
O you who follow in our footsteps
We are those with whom you cannot keep pace.
We are not with you when the bows collide
نَحنُwe أَودٌAwd حينَwhen تَصطَكُّclash القَناthe spears
وَالعَواليand the spearheads لِلعَواليagainst the spearheads مُشرَعَهleveled
We are Awd when the spears clash,
And the highlands have opened their heights
And spearheads are leveled against spearheads,
On the day when the white swords shine bright
يَومَon the day تُبديreveal البيضُthe fair-skinned women عَنfrom لَمعِthe gleam البُرىthe anklets
وَلِأَهلِand for the people of الدارِthe dwelling فيهاin it صَعصَعَهturmoil
On the day fair-skinned women reveal their gleaming anklets,
And for the people of the house discord stirs
And the people of the dwelling are in turmoil there.
Then in us is a fire seen for the villages
ثُمَّthen فيناamong us لِلقِرىfor hospitality نارٌa fire يُرىis seen
عِندَهاbeside it لِلضَيفِfor the guest رُحبٌwelcome وَسِعَهand plenty
Then among us burns a fire for hospitality; one sees
Where for the guest are breadth and welcome
Beside it, welcome and plenty for the guest.
