وَلَم يَرَ ذو عِزٍّ لِنِسوَتِنا حِجلا
We fight peoples and take their women captive,
yet no man of might has seen an anklet on our women.

no people surpassing us in their noble deeds.

like full-grown camels hobbled in summer by a woman of Najd.

We remain jealous beside every secluded woman,
turning a fair neck and stout limbs.

that we are a people who never neglect a blood-debt owed us.

And we indeed give wealth to safeguard our blood,
and we refuse—no blood-money is offered us in place of blood.
