وَسَعدٌand Saʿd لَوif دَعَوتَهُمُyou called them لَثابواthey would have rallied
وَسَعدٌ لَو دَعَوتَهُمُ لَثابوا
إِلَيَّto me حَفيفَthe rustling of غابِthickets of نَوىًNawā بِأُسدِwith lions
إِلَيَّ حَفيفَ غابِ نَوىً بِأُسدِ
And Saʿd, had you called them, would have rallied
And Saad, if I had called on them, would have returned
to me, rustling like Nawā’s thickets teeming with lions.
