أنا خلاصَةُ أفكارٍ معقَدةٍ

أنا خلاصَةُ أفكارٍ معقَدةٍ

أرادها اللهُ من ماضٍ ومن آتِ

أرادها اللهُ من ماضٍ ومن آتِ

I am the essence of complex thoughts

that God willed from the past and from what is to come.

وأغلِبُ الكونَ، إلا الذاتَ تغلبُني

وأغلِبُ الكونَ، إلا الذاتَ تغلبُني

ولستُ أدري لماذا الذاتُ، بالذاتِ؟

ولستُ أدري لماذا الذاتُ، بالذاتِ؟

And I overcome the universe—except the self, which overcomes me.

And I do not know: why the self, in particular?
