ياO منyou who غفوتِyou fell asleep، ولمand did not أزلI cease مشتاقاyearning
قوميrise بربّكِby your Lord واحضنيand embrace الخفّاقاthe beating heart
O you who have fallen asleep, while I still yearn.
O you who have been sleeping, while I remain longing
Rise, for your Lord's sake, and embrace the beating heart.
Rise, for your Lord's sake, and embrace me gently
مُذsince نمتِyou slept أنتِyou وأنفُسيand my souls سهرانةٌawake
والأمنياتُand wishes تطوّقُencircle الأحداقاthe pupils of the eyes
Since you fell asleep, my souls have stayed awake,
Since you fell asleep, while my soul remained wakeful
And wishes encircle the eyes.
And dreams encircle my eyes
أدعوI pray علىagainst البُعدthe distance الذيthat ماwhat lies بينناbetween us
والمُغلقينَand those who shut بوجهناin our faces الآفاقاthe horizons
I pray against the distance that lies between us,
I curse the distance between us
And those who shut the horizons in our faces.
And those who have closed off our horizons

How many a sleepless lover of yours dwells within my ribs!
How many lovers in ribs tormented for you
