O marvel of beauty and the beautiful,

Why has the eyelid yearned for slumber?

    O beauty, who strutted, spellbound,

And captivated with an entranced one's coy charm,

O perfection, how did you yield to us?

To others, how did you not yield?

    فَبَخٍ يا صُدفَةَ الزَمَنِ

    Our night has become momentous in time;

So bravo, O chance of time!

And at Ni‘m's wedding, amid rejoicing,

A hope for the people and the homeland,

    With bright, radiant nights—

So bravo! Such nights had never been before.

    O bridegroom, in his charms,

A moon that has done away with weakness,

And remain a hope for the gazelle,

With her, in secret and in public.

    And praise, always and forever,

For the one who loves me, not sorrow.
