You aided the Lord, you aided the Chosen One; aided were
through you the creatures, the things, and the nations.

You raised the faith's standing; you lived boldly braving
great calamities, all of them blazing.

You unfurled banners in support of the Requiter
above the Messenger, with a keen blade that cuts down utterly.

You stood firm for the faith, alone among all people;
you aided it while adversity's vast ocean surged.

O possessor of piety and purity—ah, what a fine man!
All are thirsty, and you are the cool Kawthar.
أَوضَحتَyou made clear سُبُلاًpaths لِمَنfor whoever ضَلَّstrayed from السَبيلَthe way هَدَتguided

You made paths clear for those who lost the way; guiding them were
your radiant lights; from them the darkness fell away.

If you speak, the timbers sway with you in wonder;
or if you speak, the pillar of darkness and ignorance crumbles.
أَوor قُلتَyou spoke وَعظاًadmonition أَحَلَّdeclared lawful السِحرَmagic سامِعُهُits hearer

Or if you offer admonition, its hearer declares magic lawful;
or if you speak decisively, wisdom flows smoothly into the ear.

Indeed I, by the life of Him who granted you a station
not granted to all, am a lovesick lover, enamored and ailing.
