الرفقُgentleness يمنٌa blessing وخيرand the best of القولspeech أصدقهits most truthful
الرفقُ يمنٌ وخير القول أصدقه
وكثرةand an excess of المزحjesting مفتاحthe key to العداواتِenmities
وكثرة المزح مفتاح العداواتِ
Gentleness is a blessing, and the best speech is the most truthful.
Kindness is a blessing, and truth is the best of words,
And excessive jesting is the key to enmities.
Excessive jesting unlocks enmities,
والصدقُand truthfulness برٌrighteousness وقولand speech الزورfalsehood صاحبهits speaker
والصدقُ برٌ وقول الزور صاحبه
يومon the day of المعادthe Resurrection حريٌdeserving بالعقوباتِof punishments
يوم المعاد حريٌ بالعقوباتِ
And truthfulness is righteousness; as for false speech, its speaker
Honesty is righteousness, while lying accompanies falsehood,
On the Day of Resurrection is deserving of punishments.
On the Day of Judgement, it deserves punishment.
