And marigolds, like the cheek of a lovesick lover
Like Mutayyam's devoted servant, whose heart
whose heart throbs for fear of parting,
Is filled with the fear of parting,

are suns that, when their sun rises,
They have suns that, from the moment they rise,
rise, and at the hour of sunset, set.
Have a rising, and at the setting time, a setting,

كما سُرَّ بالرأي المصيب مصيبُ
They open when it appears, rejoicing in its light,
When joy appears, they bloom open with their light,
as one who judges rightly rejoices in a sound judgment.
As one made happy by good counsel is made happy,

And they close when darkness comes, as though it were
And when darkness comes they close together as if
a watcher over them, while light is their beloved.
It were a guard over them while the light is their beloved.
