What have I to do with the madman's daughter, who comes to me

At night? Surely my daytime with you is enough for me.

I will not be duped into cherishing a stuffed calf—a calf of pretence—

Nor dwell in the abode of helplessness and humiliation.

And the worst thing you can lodge inside a tent

Is a mad, witless woman, a madman's daughter.

She deems the milk-skin foul without weakening its tightly twisted cord,

And gnaws the grain just as it is, unground.
