So no drop of water, once gathered in a dense raincloud,
Not a drop was she, but a patient gathering cloud
On the back of a smooth rock, stirred by the east wind,
Upon the back of Saffwan, shaken by the breeze,

Over a mouthful of pure honey brought
Upon a stretch of crystal water she came carried
By an eager man who deems it right to earn his living,
By one athirst who thought to gain and profit.

Is sweeter than her mouth or the taste of her saliva,
With sweeter than her salt and nothing of her taste
When the star inclines toward setting and sinks.
When the star inclines his ear low to the fading west.
