أَضَلَّmade go astray اللَهُGod سَعيَthe endeavors of بنيsons of قُرَيعٍQurayʿ
أَضَلَّ اللَهُ سَعيَ بني قُرَيعٍ
وَلَيسَand there is no لِماfor what أَضَلَّmade go astray اللَهُGod هادِguide
وَلَيسَ لِما أَضَلَّ اللَهُ هادِ
May God lead the endeavors of the sons of Qurayʿ astray;
God led astray the efforts of the sons of Quray'
and there is no guide for what God leads astray.
There is no guide for those whom God has led astray
إِذاwhen دَخَلُواthey enter بُيُوتَهُمُtheir dwellings أَكَبُّواthey bend down
إِذا دَخَلُوا بُيُوتَهُمُ أَكَبُّوا
عَلىonto الرُّكباتِthe knees مِنbecause of قِصَرِthe shortness of العِمادِthe tent poles
عَلى الرُّكباتِ مِن قِصَرِ العِمادِ
When they enter their dwellings, they bend down
When they entered their homes, they ducked
onto their knees, so short are the tent poles.
With knees bent, due to the low roof
