وَقَدand at times أَكُونُI am أَمامَahead of القَومِthe company تحمِلُنيcarries me
وَقَد أَكُونُ أَمامَ القَومِ تحمِلُني
جَرداءُa sleek, short-haired mare لاno فَجَجٌsplaying of the legs فيهاin her وَلاand no صَكَكُlegs knocking together
جَرداءُ لا فَجَجٌ فيها وَلا صَكَكُ
And at times I am ahead of the company, borne
I may stand before the people carrying me,
By a sleek mare, with neither splayed legs nor legs that knock together.
Naked, with neither bandolier nor chainmail coat.
