في لَيلَةٍ مِن لَيالي الصرّ شاتِيَةٌ
لاnot يُدفِئُwarms الشَّيخthe old man مِنagainst صرادِهاits biting chill النيمُthe fur cloak
لا يُدفِئُ الشَّيخ مِن صرادِها النيمُ
On a wintry night among the nights of bitter cold,
On a night of the blustery nights
The fur cloak does not warm the old man against its biting chill.
The cold cannot warm the old man from its severity
