حيدىturn aside! حَيادِturn aside! فَإِنَّfor indeed غَزوَةَthe raid of جَيشِهِhis army
حيدى حَيادِ فَإِنَّ غَزوَةَ جَيشِهِ
ضَمنَتhas guaranteed لِجائِلَةِfor the roaming السِباعِbeasts of prey عِيالَهاtheir young
ضَمنَت لِجائِلَةِ السِباعِ عِيالَها
Turn aside, turn aside! For his army’s raid
Turn away in indifference, for the onslaught of his army
Has guaranteed the roaming beasts sustenance for their young.
Has secured food for the ravenous beasts and their young
فَرَّجتَyou dispelled سُدفَتَهاits darkness بِوَجهِكَwith your face مُعلِماًbearing battle insignia
فَرَّجتَ سُدفَتَها بِوَجهِكَ مُعلِماً
وَجَعَلتَand you made عالِيَةَthe tips of الرِماحِthe spears ذُبالَهاits wicks
وَجَعَلتَ عالِيَةَ الرِماحِ ذُبالَها
You dispelled its darkness with your face, bearing battle insignia,
You unveiled your cheek as an instructor
And made the spearheads its wicks.
And made the tall spears their firewood
أَعطَيتَyou gave حَتّىuntil لَمdid not تِجِدyou find لَكَfor you سائِلاًa petitioner
أَعطَيتَ حَتّى لَم تِجِد لَكَ سائِلاً
وَبَدَأتَand you took the initiative إِذwhen قَطَعَceased العُفاةُseekers of bounty سُؤالَهاtheir asking
وَبَدَأتَ إِذ قَطَعَ العُفاةُ سُؤالَها
You gave until you found no one to ask of you,
You gave until you found no one asking you
And took the initiative when the seekers of bounty ceased their pleas.
And began when the destitute cut short their begging
