I have forsaken you—not out of ingratitude for a favor.

And can one hope to gain more through ingratitude?

But when I came to you as a visitor,

And you lavished kindness upon me, you were unable to give thanks.

So from now on, I come to you only to offer greetings.

I visit you one day every two months, or every month.

So if you show me greater kindness, I grow more distant.

Then we shall not meet throughout our lives, until the Resurrection.
