    لَدى القُدوم وَباب اليُمن قَد فَتحا

    The bearer of glad tidings came, and dawn's light gleamed;

At his arrival, the gate of good fortune also opened.

Welcome to light upon light at his appearance!

Joy returned, and Time's breast was eased.

So, how welcome his arrival—eyes found joy in him,

Until tears appeared in their inner corners for joy.

And how welcome his approach—hearts rejoiced in him,

Hearts that had nearly melted in separation's fires, in grief.

He arrived, so his native lands smiled with gladness,

Swaying with delight and exulting in happiness and mirth.

And the tongues of good fortune began to chant:

"This beloved one has come, and Time has been generous."

With what thanks can I do justice to praising him,

When friend and foe have agreed upon his preeminence?
