أَرِناshow us زَمانَthe time of الاِنسintimacy ياO وَجهَface of الحَبيبِthe beloved
أَرِنا زَمانَ الاِنس يا وَجهَ الحَبيبِ
وَاِحذَرand beware حَماكَmay He protect you اللَهُGod أَنthat يَدريfind out الرِقيبthe watcher
وَاِحذَر حَماكَ اللَهُ أَن يَدري الرِقيب
Show us the time of intimacy, O face of the beloved.
Show us the time of intimacy, O face of the beloved
And beware—may God protect you—lest the watcher find out.
And beware, may God protect you, lest the watcher know
دَعنىlet me be لانيbecause I بِاللُقاthrough reunion قَلبيmy heart يَطيبfinds comfort
دَعنى لاني بِاللُقا قَلبي يَطيب
وَدَعِand set aside العِلاجَthe treatment وَماand what يَقولُsays بِهِwith it الطَبيبthe physician
وَدَعِ العِلاجَ وَما يَقولُ بِهِ الطَبيب
Let me be, for reunion brings comfort to my heart.
Let me be, for my heart is gladdened by the meeting
And set aside the treatment and what the physician recommends.
And leave the cure and what the doctor prescribes
