If I win nearness, his brows drive me away.
If I come near, his frowning brow repels me,
And fear of his glances spares me the need to look.
And fear of his disdain contents me without a glance.

And if I incline toward estrangement, I am driven
If I incline to estrangement, he disquiets me
Toward the loveliness of meeting him by my frail endurance.
To the beauty of his face, my patience being weak.
