سطرت الدهم بِالشهب

وَقَلبي زائِد الكرب

I penned black upon white,

The sorrows streaked with falling stars

And my heart's anguish grows.

And my heart weighed down more with distress

يُنادي اِنَّني صاد

يُنادي اِنَّني صاد

اِلى الاِحبابِ وَالصحب

اِلى الاِحبابِ وَالصحب

It cries: indeed, I am thirsting

Calling out, I am blocked off

For loved ones and companions.
