ياO لَيلnight اِنَّكَindeed you فيin الفِعالdeeds مُنافِقa hypocrite
يا لَيل اِنَّكَ في الفِعال مُنافِق
هذاthis one تَسهدهyou keep him awake وَذاكَand that one تُوافِقyou accommodate
هذا تَسهده وَذاكَ تُوافِق
O night, you are indeed a hypocrite in your deeds.
You keep this one awake, and accommodate that one.
وَاِذاand when لِسَهدfrom sleeplessness أَنmoans فيكَwithin you العاشِقthe lover
وَاِذا لِسَهد أَن فيكَ العاشِق
ضاعَفتَyou redouble شَكواهhis lament وَأَنتَwhile you are بَهيمpitch-dark
ضاعَفتَ شَكواه وَأَنتَ بَهيم
And when the lover moans within you from sleeplessness,
You redouble his lament while you are pitch-dark.
