لِماwhen رَأَيتI saw الظُلمَthe injustice منfrom ذاكَthat المُلكrule; dominion
لِما رَأَيت الظُلمَ من ذاكَ المُلك
وَعَلِمتand I learned مِنfrom تَهديدِهِhis threat ماwhat قَدalready سَلَكhe had pursued
وَعَلِمت مِن تَهديدِهِ ما قَد سَلَك
When I saw the injustice of that rule,
And learned from his threat what course he had taken,
أَصبَحتَyou became (context suggests: I began) أَدنوI draw near منto حماهhis sanctuary وَقَدand already هَلَكperished
أَصبَحتَ أَدنو من حماه وَقَد هَلَك
قَلبa heart عَلىupon عَهدthe covenant of الحَبيبthe beloved مُقيمabiding
قَلب عَلى عَهد الحَبيب مُقيم
I began drawing near his sanctuary, though there had perished
A heart abiding by the beloved's covenant.
