Glad tidings to you, O Egypt, for good fortune has been granted.

And gladness wreathed fortune’s crowns at forenoon.

And delight stayed by fortune’s watering place, taking its evening draught.

And triumph set Time’s side swaying, so it took its morning draught.

And its lord and master honored the land.

And Time offered good fortune whatever it requested.

The nights of his arrival girded themselves with splendor,

And today it has become robed in lights.

How fine the congratulations at joy’s advent, for indeed

The gleam of rejoicing’s lightning rose and shone clear.

The sky of serene hopes revealed its stars,

And joy’s saving rain greeted us with its bounty.

So what an arrival! Its glad tidings brought

Time’s spoils to the hopeful one, who has indeed prospered.

And his radiance spread over all mankind, becoming

A gladdening light, and lightning sparked by his fire-stick.

The cherished one returned, whose return was met with generosity

From our days; so he gained delight and gifts.

Were Honor told, 'Choose,' it would say, 'To serve him.'

Or were Time told, 'Outrace his resolve,' it would be put to shame.

May the covenant’s bearer remain the lamp of glory forever,

As long as a bough grows green and the singer in its grove warbles.

And may no age be bereft of his ample shade:

Through him the Majestic One granted it good fortune, and it rejoiced.

    تَتوجت بِلال نورِها وَضحا

    So the letters inscribed take pride in praising him;

They were crowned with pearls whose light shone clear.

And came forth as a chronogram for his glories:

The Khedive arrived and bestowed good fortune and joy.
