أَمّا السلو فَيَستَحيل عَنِ الهَوى

أَمّا السلو فَيَستَحيل عَنِ الهَوى

فَاِختَر لِعَبد لا يَميل اِلى السوى

فَاِختَر لِعَبد لا يَميل اِلى السوى

As for forgetting love, that is impossible.

The torrent turns away from desire

So choose for a servant who turns to no other:

So choose a servant who inclines not to depravity

اِما التَعَطف بِالوِصال أَوِ النَوى

اِما التَعَطف بِالوِصال أَوِ النَوى

وَالعَطف أَقرَبُ وَالحَميل كَريم

وَالعَطف أَقرَبُ وَالحَميل كَريم

Either kindness through union, or separation.

Either show tenderness in union or intention

And kindness is closer, and the guarantor is generous.

But tenderness is nearer and the burden honored
