سَلام قَد حَوى مَنظوم دُر

سَلام قَد حَوى مَنظوم دُر

سَلوا عَنهُ الرِسالَة حينَ عَنَت

سَلوا عَنهُ الرِسالَة حينَ عَنَت

A greeting that holds strung pearls;

Peace has encompassed a string of pearls

Ask the letter about it when it appears.

Ask the message about it when it insists

وَلَو رامَت تَعبر عَن ضَميري

وَلَو رامَت تَعبر عَن ضَميري

وَما لاقى بِكُم قَلبي لَغنت

وَما لاقى بِكُم قَلبي لَغنت

And had it sought to express my innermost feelings

And if it had wanted to express my conscience

And what my heart experienced because of you, it would have sung.

My heart would have sung what it found in you
