وَيَظُنand thinks جالينوسGalen بَعضone of عَبيدِهhis slaves
O you who came to the body to cure its illness,
O you who came to heal the body of its sickness
And thinks Galen one of his slaves:
And Galenus thinks some of his slaves
أَفنَيتyou annihilated بِالطِبwith medicine الَّذيwhich تَهذىyou babble بِهِabout it
أَمماpeoples وَقربتand you brought near الرَدىdeath بِبَعيدهto those far from it
You have annihilated, with the medicine you babble about,
Have you wasted the medicine you boast about?
Peoples, and brought death near to those far from it.
Or have you brought the remedy closer through the remote?
وَزَعَمتand you claimed أَنَّكَthat you قَدalready جَدَّدتَهyou renewed it
وَلَقَدand indeed أَضَعتyou ruined قَديمُهits old form بِجَديدُهwith its new form
And you claimed that you had renewed it,
And you claimed you have renewed it
Yet you have ruined its old form with its new.
But you have wasted its old with its new
