إنّindeed ماءَwater الجفونِthe eyelids ينزحهdrains it الهمّgrief
إنّ ماءَ الجفونِ ينزحه الهمّ
وَتَبقىand remain الهمومُthe worries والأحزانُand the sorrows
وَتَبقى الهمومُ والأحزانُ
Indeed, grief drains the water of the eyelids,
The water of the eyelids is drained by worries,
And worries and sorrows remain.
And the sorrows and griefs remain.
لَيسَdoes not يَأسوheal جوىheartache المُرزّاءthe bereaved woman ماءٌwater
لَيسَ يَأسو جوى المُرزّاء ماءٌ
سَفحتهُshed it الشؤونُthe tear ducts والأجفانُand the eyelids
سَفحتهُ الشؤونُ والأجفانُ
The bereaved woman's heartache is not healed by water
The wounds’ hollow has no water that despair,
Shed by tear ducts and eyelids.
Poured over it are concerns and eyelids.
