علة البدر راقبي الحسن فيه

لا تضري به ولا تنحليه

O illness of the full moon, have regard for the beauty in him.

Do not harm him or make him waste away.

أنا أقوى على احتمالك منه

حمليني أضعاف ما يشتكيه

I am stronger than he in bearing you.

Burden me with many times what he complains of.

وذري سيدي ودونك جسمي

منزلاً ما أردته فاسكنيه

And leave my lord alone; here is my body for you,

As a dwelling—whenever you desire it, dwell in it.
