حينماwhen تصدأrusts العزيمةُresolve يخْبوfades
حينما تصدأ العزيمةُ يخْبو
وهجُglow الصِّدقِtruth فيin شموعِcandles الرَّغائبْdesires
وهجُ الصِّدقِ في شموعِ الرَّغائبْ
When resolve rusts, there fades
When resolve fails desire’s flame grows dim
the glow of truth in the candles of desire.
And sincerity’s bright candles start to grow dim
وإذاand when عافَتِshunned الرِّياحَthe winds الغواديthe morning rainclouds
وإذا عافَتِ الرِّياحَ الغوادي
لنْwill not تذوقtaste الرمالُthe sands شَهْدَhoney السحائبthe clouds
لنْ تذوق الرمالُ شَهْدَ السحائب
And when the morning rainclouds shun the winds,
When the winds cease their raging through the vale
the sands will not taste the honey of the clouds.
The sands will not taste the clouds’ sweet rain
وإذاand when غابَتِwas absent الفضيلةُvirtue عَنَّاfrom us
وإذا غابَتِ الفضيلةُ عَنَّا
تلِدُgives birth الأرضُthe earth للحياةِfor life العجائبwonders
تلِدُ الأرضُ للحياةِ العجائب
And when virtue is absent from us,
When virtue is absent amongst us
the earth gives birth to wonders for life.
The earth gives birth to wondrous tribulation
يصرخُcries out الحِقْدُhatred فيin الضمائرconsciences ناراًas a fire
يصرخُ الحِقْدُ في الضمائر ناراً
تتلظَّىblazes وتشرئبُّand rear their heads المصائبcalamities
تتلظَّى وتشرئبُّ المصائب
Hatred cries out in consciences as a fire
Hatred screams fire in our hearts
that blazes, and calamities rear their heads.
