قالتْ نَعِمَّا أبٌ في الناسِ يا أبتي

قالتْ نَعِمَّا أبٌ في الناسِ يا أبتي

جعلْتَ دربَ الهُدى للخَيْرِ مَرْكبتي

She said, “What a fine father you are among people, my father!

She said, “Yes, father, among people you are good, my father,

You made the path of guidance my mount toward goodness.

You made the path of guidance the vehicle for doing good,

وكمْ حمَلْتَ إذا ما النصرُ حالفني

وكمْ حمَلْتَ إذا ما النصرُ حالفني

أزكى الهدايا وأغلاها لِتَهْنِئتي

أزكى الهدايا وأغلاها لِتَهْنِئتي

And how often you brought, whenever victory favored me,

And how much you carried when victory sided with me,

the finest gifts and the most precious, to congratulate me.

The most wholesome gifts and the most precious for congratulating me,

وإنْ بعَثْتُ إلى الأحلامِ أغنيةً

وإنْ بعَثْتُ إلى الأحلامِ أغنيةً

أسْرَجْتَ قلبَكَ كيْ يُصْغي لأغنيتي

أسْرَجْتَ قلبَكَ كيْ يُصْغي لأغنيتي

And if I sent a song to dreams,

And if I sent out to dreams a song,

you saddled your heart so it would listen to my song.”

فقلتُ يا طفلتي ما تنعمين به

فقلتُ يا طفلتي ما تنعمين به

ورِثْتُهُ عن أبي الحاني ووالدتي

ورِثْتُهُ عن أبي الحاني ووالدتي

So I said, “My little girl, what you enjoy

I inherited from my loving father and my mother.”
