يختالit strides proudly نقرأwe read فيin ملامحfeatures وجههِits face
يختال نقرأ في ملامح وجههِ
صوراًimages تنبئناtell us عنabout الماضيthe past البعيدdistant
صوراً تنبئنا عن الماضي البعيد
It strides proudly; we read in the features of its face
It struts, we read in its features
Images that tell us of the distant past.”

قلت: الليالي علمتني أنَّ في
آفاقهاtheir horizons سُحُبٌclouds تمخَّضُare in labor بالجليدwith ice
آفاقها سُحُبٌ تمخَّضُ بالجليد
I said, “The nights have taught me that in
