    She said: I see you beguiling me with the melody of speech

    And pouring poetry as a pulse into my arteries.

    How, then, can I free my veins from your palms

    And reclaim the fragrance of my roses and my eglantine?

    So I said: I am a man whose epic availed nothing

    In capturing your heart, nor did my poetry collections intercede.

    الحُبُّ أصبَحَ عَبْداً للملايين

    Love is no longer inner feeling and emotion;

    Love has become a slave to millions.
