جعلتِ للصَّخرِ أفواهاً وألسنةً

You gave the rock mouths and tongues,

Red with ink, and a history and dominion.

تَركْتِهِ وعَصَا العصيانِ في يده

فكنت شيطانةً والصَّخْرُ شيطانا

You left him with the staff of rebellion in his hand;

So you were a she-devil, and the rock a devil.
