Eid has arrived, and from its retinue
The feast is approaching, and with its procession
deaths meet us, lying in wait.
Death lies in wait to receive us.

In what our right hands possess, there is no
Of all we possess in our hands
power to silence the voices of death.
None can silence the voices of destruction.
هلwill ...? يُفيقُawaken العيدُthe feast (Eid) منfrom نشوتهits intoxication
وهوwhile it يُسقيناgives us drink الأمنيwishes (reading uncertain) حَسَداout of envy؟
Will Eid awaken from its intoxication
Will the feast awaken from its intoxication
while it gives us wishes to drink out of envy?
While it feeds our desperate envy?
إرثُناour inheritance ينسَلُّslips away منfrom أعماقناour depths
ياO ترىyou see منwho يملكُpossesses الإرثَthe inheritance غداtomorrow؟
Our inheritance slips away from our depths.
Our legacy slips from our depths.
I wonder: who will possess the inheritance tomorrow?
I wonder who will own this legacy tomorrow?
