الناسُ حُسَّادُ المكانَ العالي
يرمونهthey assail it بدسائسِwith intrigues الأعمالِdeeds
يرمونه بدسائسِ الأعمالِ
People envy the lofty station;
People envy the lofty station;
They assail it with insidious deeds.
They assail it with acts of intrigue.
ولأنْتَand indeed you ياO وطنيmy homeland العظيمgreat منارةٌa beacon
ولأنْتَ يا وطني العظيم منارةٌ
فيin راحتيْكَyour two palms حضارةُcivilization of الأجيالِthe generations
في راحتيْكَ حضارةُ الأجيالِ
And surely you, my great homeland, are a beacon;
And you, my great homeland, are indeed a beacon;
Within your palms lies the civilization of generations.
In your two palms lies the civilization of generations.
لاnot ينْتميbelongs لَكَto you منwhoever يَخونُbetrays ولاءَُallegiance
لا ينْتمي لَكَ من يَخونُ ولاءَُ
إنَّindeed الولاءَallegiance شهادةُtestimony of الأبطالِthe heroes
إنَّ الولاءَ شهادةُ الأبطالِ
Whoever betrays his allegiance does not belong to you;
No one who betrays allegiance belongs to you.
Indeed, loyalty is the testimony of heroes.
Indeed, allegiance is the testimony of heroes.
ياO قِبْلةَqibla (prayer direction) of التاريخِhistory ياO بلَدَland of الهُدىguidance
يا قِبْلةَ التاريخِ يا بلَدَ الهُدى
أقسمتُI have sworn أنَّكthat you مضرَبُan example cited in الأمثالproverbs
أقسمتُ أنَّك مضرَبُ الأمثال
O history’s qibla, O land of guidance,
O qibla of history, O land of guidance,
I swear that you are the exemplar invoked in proverbs.
I have sworn that you are held up as an example.
