1. بنيت طاعتي باتباع

    بالذكر والسنة والإجماع

    I built my obedience upon following

    the Reminder, the Sunnah, and consensus.

  2. عاهدت ربي على العباده

    بسنة المختارخيرالساده

    I pledged to my Lord to worship

    according to the Sunnah of the Chosen One, the best of masters.

  3. له علي العهدفي تحليل ما

    حلل مع تحريم ماقد حرما

    My pledge to Him binds me to deem lawful what

    He made lawful, and to forbid what He has forbidden.

  4. عاهدته أيضاعلى ترك ابتداع

    مستهترًالوجهه قصد اتباع

    I also pledged to Him to abandon innovation,

    wholly devoted for His sake, intent on following.

  5. ظهر لي أن اعتصاما بالكتاب

    وبحديث المصطفى هوالصواب

    It became clear to me that holding fast to the Book

    and to the Hadith of the Chosen One is the right course.

  6. لجئت للكريم بالكتاب

    وبالحديث ثم بالصواب

    I sought refuge with the Generous One through the Book,

    and through the Hadith, then through what is right.

  7. كرامتي ومفخري وجاهي

    كتاب ربي ورسول الله

    My honor, my source of pride, and my standing

    are my Lord's Book and God's Messenger.

  8. يا جملة قدثلثوا بضلالهم

    من لم يكن ولد له أووالد

    O company who, through their error, have made threefold

    the One who has neither child nor parent!

  9. أخرجتموني ناطقين بأنني

    عبد الإله وإنني لمجاهد

    You expelled me, declaring that I am

    a servant of God, and that I am indeed one who strives.

  10. و ظننتم أن المدافع عندنا

    والكل منكم ذو قلى ويحاسد

    And you thought that we had cannons,

    and each of you bears hatred and envies.

  11. ومقالكم حق فإني عبده

    وخديم عبد الله وهوالحامد

    And your statement is true, for I am His servant,

    and an attendant of God's servant, the one who praises.

  12. و مقالكم إني أجاهد صادق

    إني لوجه الله جل أجاهد

    And your statement that I strive is true:

    indeed, I strive for the sake of God—exalted is He.

  13. إني أجاهد بالعلوم و بالتقى

    عبدا خديما و المهيمن شاهد

    Indeed, I strive through the sciences and through piety,

    as a servant, an attendant—and the Guardian is witness.

  14. سيفي الذي يفري طلى من ثلثوا

    توحيده فهو الإله الواحد

    My sword, which cleaves the necks of those who made threefold

    His oneness—for He is the One God—

  15. و مدافعي اللاتي بها أنفي العدى

    و بها يفارقني عنيد قاصد

    and my cannons, with which I drive away enemies,

    and with which a stubborn pursuer leaves me,

  16. ذكر حكيم أحكمت آياته

    ممن يزحزح ما يريد المارد

    are a wise Reminder, whose verses have been perfected,

    from Him who wards off what the rebellious one desires.

  17. أما رماحي فالأحاديث التي

    وردت عن الماحي ونعم الوارد

    As for my spears, they are the Hadiths that

    were transmitted from the Effacer—and excellent is what was transmitted.

  18. وبها أزحزح بدعة قد أحدثوا

    و بها يلازمني سعيد عابد

    And with them I drive away an innovation they have introduced,

    and with them a fortunate worshipper stays with me.

  19. أما الفروع فأسهم قد حددت

    لحديثه إن الفروع زوائد

    As for the branches of law, they are arrows that have been sharpened

    for his Hadith; indeed, the branches are supplements.

  20. وبها أزحزح صائلا من شبهة

    عن جانبي إن السهام طوارد

    And with them I drive off an assailant arising from doubt

    from my side; arrows indeed drive assailants away.

  21. أما الذي يتجسس الأسرار لي

    فتصوف صاف جلاه أماجد

    As for what spies out secrets for me,

    it is pure Sufism, elucidated by noble men.
