We accept no reproach concerning Japan,

For they are the most faithful of humankind.

فما ودادُنا لهم تصنُّعُ

لكنه من طبعنا تطوُّعُ

So our affection for them is no pretense;

Rather, it springs freely from our nature.

إن قلدونا أتقنوا التقليدا

إن قلدونا أتقنوا التقليدا

وأحسنوا القديم والجديدا

وأحسنوا القديم والجديدا

If they imitate us, they perfect the imitation,

And excel at both the old and the new.
