1. حقليَ اليوم سعيدٌ

    برئيس الوزراءِ

    My field today is happy

    with the Prime Minister.

  2. مر في الركب عليه

    بسلام الأنبياءِ

    He passed over it amid the cavalcade,

    with the prophets’ greeting of peace.

  3. كاد يجري خلفه ما

    فيه من ظلٍّ وماءِ

    All the shade and water

    within it nearly ran after him.

  4. وتلقت ثمرات ال

    أرض عبء الأجراء

    And the fruits of the

    earth bore the cost of the hired laborers.

  5. فهي في الرخص حفاظٌ

    وهي يسرٌ في الغلاء

    For they are a safeguard when prices fall,

    and a relief when prices rise.

  6. فَكَّها من فَكَّ قومي

    من قيود الغرماء

    He freed it—the man who freed my people

    from the creditors’ chains—

  7. ووقاها البيع جبراً

    وهي في سوق القضاء

    and spared it a forced sale

    while it was in the courts’ marketplace.

  8. خرجت من بنك أرنس

    تَ إلى بنك السماء

    It left the Bank of Ernes—

    t for the Bank of Heaven,

  9. تحمل الدين خفيفاً

    في مواعيد الوفاء

    bearing the debt lightly

    at the appointed times of repayment.

  10. وسأبقى بعفافي

    في سجل الأغنياء

    And I shall remain, through my integrity,

    in the register of the rich.

  11. جلد الزارع عندي

    وخيال الشعراء

    I possess the farmer’s endurance

    and the poets’ imagination.
