بالفضل جهل قومِها
My beloved is ignorant—
My beloved is ignorant
she knows nothing of virtue, like her people.
Of virtue, as ignorant as her people.
فليتso, if only بعضَsome of حسنِهاher beauty
فليت بعضَ حسنِها
يكونwould be كلَّall of علمِهاher knowledge
يكون كلَّ علمِها
If only a portion of her beauty
So, if only some of her beauty
were the whole of all her learning.
Were all her knowledge.
