Sol 6.1

  1. يا عين شمسٍ إن أفضل ما بنى

    في ساحِك البانون هذا المسجدُ

    O Ayn Shams, surely the finest thing built

    In your precincts by builders is this mosque.

  2. بين الحدائق والبروج أقامه

    متجملون لذي جميل يحمد

    Amid gardens and towers, it was erected

    By men showing graciousness to one whose kindness is praised.

  3. نعمى لهم قد سايرتها عندهم

    نعمى له ويد تسابقها يد

    A blessing for them, matched in their midst

    By a blessing for him, and one hand racing another.

  4. زلفي إلى اللّه انتهت وهدية

    عظمى تناولها النبي محمد

    An offering of devotion that reached God, and a gift

    Of surpassing greatness, received by the Prophet Muhammad.

  5. أغنى العباد المتقي وأجل من

    سكن القصور الموسر المتعبد

    The richest of God's servants is the God-fearing, and the noblest of those

    Who dwell in palaces is the wealthy, devout worshipper.

  6. من كان يذكر ربه في موحش

    قفر رأى فيه الملائك تحشد

    Whoever remembered his Lord in a desolate

    Waste saw the angels gathering there.

  7. في ذمة الإسلام من يدعى ومن

    يزجى إلى ذا المهرجان ويوفد

    Under Islam's protection are those invited, and those

    Ushered to this festival and sent as delegates.

  8. شهدوا طلوع الشمس بعد أفولها

    وعمار نائية المدى ويتجدد

    They witnessed the sun's rising after its setting,

    And the renewed flourishing of a far-flung place.

  9. وتنافس الخطباء في إعلان ما

    يرجو لمصر مثلث وموحد

    And the orators vied in proclaiming what

    Trinitarian and monotheist hope for Egypt.

  10. من كان يتهم البرىء فقد محا

    تُهَمَ البلاد نزيلها المتودد

    If anyone once accused the innocent, now erased are

    The charges against the land, by its friendly guest.
