Sol 6.1

  1. وزير العلى أهلاً وسهلاً ومرحباً

    إيابك ميمونٌ وفوزك مأمولُ

    Minister of glory, welcome—a warm and gracious welcome!

    Your return is auspicious, and your success is hoped for.

  2. وفيّان للعرش المقدس والحمى

    سعيدان في أرجائه أنت والنيلُ

    Both loyal to the sacred throne and the homeland,

    Both happy within its bounds—you and the Nile.

  3. وإن حمدت إخلاصك الأرض والسما

    فأنت على هذي الشمائل مجبول

    And though earth and heaven have praised your devotion,

    For you are naturally endowed with these virtues.

  4. أتعرف عذراً للغضاب وحجة

    وقد رضى العباس والعصر والجيل

    Do you know an excuse and a justification for the angry,

    When Abbas, the age, and the generation are already pleased?

  5. وإن الذي نسعى إليه وإن غلا

    علينا لمضمون بحزمك مكفول

    And what we strive for, however costly

    to us, is surely assured and guaranteed by your resolve.

  6. وإن الذي تختاره من سياسة

    جلتها التجاريب الصحاح لمقبول

    And the policy you choose,

    made clear by sound experience, is surely acceptable.

  7. ومن كابد الميدان لا يجهل المدى

    وقد يخطئ الميعاد إن طاش تعجيل

    And whoever has struggled in the field knows the distance;

    And he may miss the appointed time if haste runs wild.

  8. كفى مصر من أضيافها عدل شاهد

    وودٌّ إلى دار الخلافة موصول

    Enough for Egypt: manifest justice from her guests,

    and affection linked to the seat of the Caliphate.

  9. نسير إلى استقلالها مطمئنة

    وإن كثرت في مسلكها الأقاويل

    We advance toward her independence, while she rests assured,

    though rumors multiply along her path.

  10. وباسم أمير النيل لا باسم غيره

    إذا زاد جيش أو تجدد أسطول

    And in the name of the Prince of the Nile, not anyone else's,

    whenever an army grows or a fleet is renewed.
