أعدَّhe prepared لهُfor him منشآتِerected structures الجبالthe mountains
أعدَّ لهُ منشآتِ الجبال
يُريدُhe seeks بهاthrough them الحُسنَbeauty فيin منظَرِهhis appearance
يُريدُ بها الحُسنَ في منظَرِه
He prepared for him structures like mountains.
He built for it the mountains' structures
Through them he seeks beauty in his appearance.
With which beauty in its view he intended
عليهاupon them الصواعقُthe thunderbolts منصوبةٌmounted
عليها الصواعقُ منصوبةٌ
تُحاكيthey resemble الخطيبَthe preacher علىupon منبرهhis pulpit
تُحاكي الخطيبَ على منبره
Upon them thunderbolts are mounted,
Upon them thunderbolts are positioned
Resembling the preacher upon his pulpit.
Mimicking the orator on his pulpit
يَزيدُhe increases بهاthrough them العزَّglory فيin ملكهِhis realm
يَزيدُ بها العزَّ في ملكهِ
ويسطُوand he assails علىagainst البغيoppression فيin مظهرهِhis outward display
ويسطُو على البغي في مظهرهِ
Through them he increases the glory of his realm,
With them might in his kingdom increases
And in his outward display he assails oppression,
And he holds sway over rebellion in its aspect
ليقتادso that he may lead قسراًby force نواصيforelocks of المُنَىwishes
ليقتاد قسراً نواصي المُنَى
فتأتيso they come كماas شاءhe wished فيin مضمرهhis innermost thoughts
فتأتي كما شاء في مضمره
To lead wishes forcibly by their forelocks,
That he may drive by force Destiny's forelocks
So they come as he wished in his innermost thoughts.
So it comes as he willed in its course
