وُجُودٌexistence وَحَسْبِيand enough for me أَنْto أَقُولَI say وُجُودُexistence
لَهُfor it كَرَمٌgenerosity مِنْهُfrom it عَلَيْهِupon it وَجُودُand bounty
Existence—and it is enough for me to say: Existence.
It has generosity and bounty, from itself to itself.
تَنَزَّهَit transcends عَنْbeyond نَعْتِthe attribute of الكَمَالِperfection لأَنَّهُbecause it
بِمَعْنَىin the sense of اعْتِبَارconsideration of النَّقْصِimperfection فِيهِin it يَؤُودُweighs heavily
It transcends the attribute of perfection, for that
weighs heavily by implying imperfection within it.
وَلَكِنَّهُbut it فِيهِin it الكَمَالُperfection وَضِدُّهُand its opposite
لَهُbelonging to it مِنْهُfrom it والمَجْمُوعُand the whole فِيهِin it صُموُدُsteadfastness
Yet within it are perfection and its opposite,
belonging to it, arising from it; the whole stands firm within it.
وَأَشَرفُand the noblest أَشْكَالِshapes of الكَنَائِفِthe enclosures مَاthat which بِهِthrough it
اسْتَدَارَتْbecame round كُرَاهُits spheres فَهْيَso they مِنْهُfrom it سُعُودُauspicious
And the noblest of the shapes of enclosures is that by which
its spheres became round; thus they are auspicious through it.
لِحَيْطَتِهَاbecause of their encompassing الأَشْكَالَthe shapes فيهاwithin them بِأَسْرِهَاin their entirety
وَمِنْهَاand from them إِلَيْهَاto them تَبْتَدِيbegin وتَعوُدُand return
For they encompass all shapes within themselves,
and from them the shapes begin, and to them return.
وَقُوَّتُهَاand their power تُعْطِيgives التَّنوُّعَdiversity كُلَّهُall of it
فَلَيْسَso there is no عَلَيْهَاbeyond them فيin الكَمْالِperfection مَزِيدُfurther increase
And their power yields all diversity;
so nothing surpasses them in perfection,
سِوَىexcept قُوَّةِthe power of الإِطْلاقِabsoluteness فَهْيَfor it مُحِيطَةٌall-encompassing
بِسَطْوَتِهَاby its might كُلُّall الكُرَاتِthe spheres تَبِيدُperish
save the power of absoluteness, for it is all-encompassing;
by its might all the spheres perish.
كَذَاlikewise حَرَكَاتُmovements of الدَّوْرِrotation أَشْرَفُthe noblest مَاthat which بهِby it
تَحَرُّكُmovement of جِسْمٍa body كَيْso that يَنَالَattains قُصُودُaims
Likewise, circular motions are the noblest means by which
a body moves to attain its aims.
فَتَشْمَلُso they encompass أَنْوَاعَkinds of التَّحَرُّكِmovement كُلِّهِall of it
فَفِيso at كُلِّevery آنٍinstant خَلْقُهُنَّtheir creation جَدِيدُnew
Thus they encompass every kind of movement;
so at every instant their creation is renewed.
مَعَانٍmeanings بِهَاthrough them مِنْهَاfrom them عَلَيْهَاconcerning them أَدِلَةٌproofs
وْفِيهَاand in them لَهَاfor them فِيمَاin what تَرُومُthey seek شُهودُwitnessing
Meanings: through them and from them come proofs concerning them;
and within them, for them, is witnessing of what they seek.
وَلَوْلاَand were it not for انْخِرامُthe disruption of الكُلِّthe whole بِالقُوَّةِby the power الَّتِيwhich
لإِطْلاَقِهَاfor its absoluteness فِيin جَمْعِهِنَّgathering them قُيوُدُconstraints
And were it not for the disruption of the whole by the power whose
absoluteness has constraints in gathering them,
لَمَاwould not عُدِمَcease to exist المَوْجُوُدwhat exists يَوْماًon any day ولاnor انْقَضَتْpass away
رُسُومٌtraces بِأَنْوَاعِthrough kinds of البَلاَdecay وَحُدُودُand boundaries
what exists would never cease to be, nor would
traces and boundaries pass away through the various kinds of decay.
وَلَكِنَّهَاbut they تَأْتِيreach النِّهَايَةَthe end وَصْفَهَاtheir attribute
فَلَيْسَso there is no لَهَاfor them فيin الدَّوْرِrotation قَطُّever جُموُدُstillness
Yet they reach the end as their attribute;
so there is never any stillness for them in their circling.
وَلَوْand if وَقَفَتْstopped يَوْماًone day بِحَدٍat a limit لَنَالَهَاwould befall them
بِهِthrough it عَدَمٌnonexistence هَيْهَاتَfar from it وَهْيَwhile they وُجوُدُexistence
And if they ever stopped at a limit, they would be overtaken
by nonexistence through it—far from it, for they are Existence.
