Nightfall descends from his hair,
or turns to dawn from the front teeth of his mouth.

I marvel at the coolness of his dusky lips, while in
my heart there burns a searing flame from him.

upon his cheeks the rose never departs.

from authentic reports by the eloquent bird?
فإِنَّfor indeed فِيin الأُفْقِthe horizon أَرَىI see لُجَّةًa deep sea
فإِنَّ فِي الأُفْقِ أَرَى لُجَّةً
لِلشُّهْبِof the shooting stars فِيهَاin it لُؤْلُوٌpearls يَسْبَحُswim
لِلشُّهْبِ فِيهَا لُؤْلُوٌ يَسْبَحُ
For on the horizon I see a deep sea,
where pearls of shooting stars swim.
