the knights' footsteps amid our mire!

    scattered in desires and sorrows!

the fragrance of truth, or the scent of goodness!

Apollo, and a call of humiliation?

from a meadow and an orchard,

A sweet gesture, and a great school,

and a house with firmly braced pillars.

And it is as though I see you rise and look

around, and call: O men of eloquence,

    arise! Rescue eloquence, and guard

the language of truth from a criminal enemy!

And leave, my nation, the doctrines of Greece,

and the delusions of an ignorant, indolent man.

    أطلِقي مِنْ مواكِبِ الفُرسانِ

    And rise! These are the schools of Badr;

    send forth the knights' processions.

How often hatred and mutual envy among us have hurled

our horses into a maze and humiliation!

To you from me, my brother Ahmad, a greeting,

the purest of prayers and kindness.
